The Barber And Me (Vault Magazine 2013 Vol. 1)

Watched Pawn Stars last night and there was a man who came in with a Dental pole from the 1800’s (which looked like the traditional Barbershop poles with a red stripe we know). Rick Harrison mentioned that during those times, barbers also were our dentists and performed minor surgeries when it came to removing teeth, etc. So they had bloody bandages that they hung on poles (hence the red stripe). I learn so much from that show!

For Vault Magazine‘s feature on the disappearing art of the barber, I had the opportunity to see the process of razor to skin close up at Titan 22. The writer of the article William S. Daland III also brought some vintage pieces (check out the “electric vibrator”!).

Also a quick congratulations to the team of Vault Magazine for being named Asia’s Best New Magazine by the Asian Publishing Awards in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia! Great job always guys!
